This issue has come up again and prompted input from another league!
I was brought up to play cricket with not only batsmen but also bowlers and fielders and very importantly a good captain.
In my view most draws are caused by the side batting first being to defensive. If you set an impossible target then the opposition will "play out" or attempt to.
Winning is also about taking wickets. This involves skill, variety.and tacktics and a captain able to use these.
I was a bowler and if we had got a good total and the opposition lost a couple of quick wickets I got no pleasure in taking wickets as a result of the battsman giving his wicket away in a futile chase.
I do not wish to see teams of negative mediam pacers with negative fields and "captains" who only toss the coin.
I could go on but hope that we learn to ply CRICKET and not just how to bat |
