League News BCL SELECT VS. BCL PREMIER DIVISION CHAMPIONS - MORTIMER WEST END

power writes:
Sunday 12 July will see a historic day in the history of the FNG-BCL league, as, for the first time ever, the Premier League champions of the year before will play against a 'Best of the Rest' XI.

2008 Champions Mortimer West End will host this historical day, and it is hoped that a decent crowd will turn out to watch and support this concept. The bar will be open all day, and a BBQ will be operating throughout the afternoon.

Start time for this clash is 1.00 p.m. and the game will be 40 overs a side – a maximum of 8 overs per bowler, as per the Pro40 County game.

Please come and support this new fixture – let’s show that the Berkshire League is a truly strong and friendly one!!!

Selected for the Select XI are a wide variety of phenomenal players, who can now be confirmed as:

Graham Sanders (Sandhurst)

Will Macdonald (Stoke Row)

Shaz Khan (Swindon NALGO)

James Wheeler (Woodcote)

Tim Vines (Peppard)

Sam Boughton (Stoke Row)

Ravi Godbole (Crown Wood)

Matt Hayman (Emmbrook & Bearwood)

Titch Vickers (Woodcote)

Jay Jeyerajah (Crown Wood)

Usman Sahar (Swindon NALGO)

League News 'Magnificent Mortimer' - The 2008 FNG-BCL Premier Division Review

dennis writes:
Having lost four highly influential clubs in the history of the Berkshire League (Yateley, Sonning and Purley (who’s 3rd’s maintain a place in the system), and Theale and Tilehurst) to the enticements of progression up the ECB ‘food chain’, by way of movement to the Thames Valley League, things looked somewhat ominous for the BCL at the close of the 2007 season.
